SUBMISSION RULES
These are the standards by which all stories must abide in order to be posted to JeanJohnsonFanfiction.com. By posting a story here, you are stating that you have read and reviewed these rules and will abide by them.
Please read them carefully. These guidelines are in place in order to provide a quality archive. We reserve the right to reject any story and/or chapter that does not follow these rules.
As of now, this site remains UN-moderated. This means that authors will have the ability to post their stories and have them appear instantly for the readers. We reserve the right to switch to a moderated environment in the future if ever there is enough interest for moderators. There will be warning, of course, when we do this. However, no one will be assured validated status.
That being said, we do expect submissions to follow certain criteria. Please read on:
DISCLAIMERS
A proper disclaimer should be added to the top of your story. Something along the lines of (and feel free to copy this): This story/artwork is based on characters and situations created by Jean Johnson; no money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.
CATEGORIES
Please categorize your story in its proper place. Each category is labelled with a description. These descriptions will be available to you throughout the site (including the categories page). CLICK FOR POP-UP: CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
SUMMARIES
Summaries should be grammatically correct with the use of proper punctuation. Please, no net speak or odd capitalizations are allowed. Banners and pictures are forbidden within story and chapter summaries. You may use them within the text of your story.
PUNCTUATION AND GRAMMAR
Before submitting a story, do your best to make it free of spelling, grammatical, and punctuational errors. It is required that you acquire the service of a beta before submitting your story.
WHAT IS ALLOWED
You may post Jean Johnson fanfiction involving any pairing - or no pairing at all (no romantic liaisons); simply place it in its proper category. Categories are defined on the Categories page. CLICK FOR POP-UP: CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
If you are unsure whether a story you've written is suitable for the site, I suggest you contact either the Site Admin or Jean Johnson.
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED
No descriptions or art depicting sexual acts of any character younger than 18. (If the law is higher in your area, please adhere to that.) Unfortunately, this is a touchy situation, and by law we cannot condone pedophilia, statutory rape or underage sex.
FORMATTING SUBMISSIONS
The fiction software recognizes line breaks (hard returns) and does not recognize tabs. Because of this, all stories must have a single space between each paragraph. Create this by entering/returning two times after each paragraph, taking you down two lines to begin the next paragraph. There should be absolutely no hard or soft returns used within a paragraph.
Paragraph html tags < p > and line break html tags < br > are not needed and sometimes create problems in spacing. Please do not submit a story with paragraph or line break tags. If you do, the admin will put your submission in hold until they are removed.
When pasting text in the Story Text Box or uploading a text file, you will notice that formatting features such as italics, boldface, and centering text will not carry over. These you must assign the respective html codes. (See the Help Page for help with these html tags).
SIZE OF SUBMISSIONS
While the system does not limit how long your chapters/stories are, bear in mind that the average book is around 70- to 125,000 words. Many books have around 15-20 chapters. Offering readers a break (you know, to eat, sleep, use the toilet) is awfully nice.
